Nicolaas Witsen in Alkmaar is an all-round nautical centre with an exceptionally rich history. It has been building new vessels and repairing existing ones since its founding as a boatbuilding yard in 1853. After 1980, under the direction of Remon de Nijs, the centre has further specialised in winter storage, maintenance, refits and yacht brokerage. The site measures over 35,000 m² and provides boat owners with a full range of services.
In keeping with its multipurpose character, the site contains the latest lifting, slipway and transport equipment for yachts with a displacement of up to 300 tonnes. There is a gantry crane for hauling out yachts weighing up to 50 tonnes and a slipway for vessels up to 300 tonnes. Nicolaas Witsen provides transport with modern hydraulic boat trailers and there is a dedicated lifting installation for removing sailing yacht masts.
Refits and maintenance
In addition to deploying state-of-the-art technical equipment, Nicolaas Witsen also invests in skilled employees. Whether what is needed is engine or other maintenance, carpentry, paintwork & repair or a complete refit, skilled professionals stand ready for every need and eventuality.
Every winter, the site accommodates over 700 yachts in a closed-off outdoor area and a covered and heated indoor storage shed. Modern tools ensure that every yacht can be moved to the desired location in no time.
Its yacht brokerage office enables Nicolaas Witsen to focus on the purchase and sale of well-kept motoryachts. The yacht brokerage always has dozens of boats on offer.
